For this month’s HEART Beat on the Street, Tlaxcalli we will be offering patrons the opportunity to create and take home papel picado. Papel picado or perforated paper is a versatile traditional folk art used to adorn homes, streets, celebrations, and/or ceremonies throughout Mexico. The rich history of papel picado is a creative synthesis of Asian, European and Pre-Columbian artistic traditions.
