Twilight Summer Concert Series at Foster Botanical Garden

Hale Hou

Take a stroll through Foster Botanical Garden and enjoy a concert from 5:45–6:30pm featuring the Hale Hou. "Hale Hou" (Home Again) is a duo with local boys - Lynn and Barry - who grew up in Kalihi-Palama and Kaneohe, working and living abroad for several decades, only to return home recently to share their music and stories. They love to kanikapila, backyard-style, old traditional Hawaiian music coupled with a mix blend of Hapa Haole songs. They have spread the “Aloha Spirit” through Hawaiian music venues here and on the mainland including events sponsored by the Hawaii State Society of Washington DC, hula halau performances, Kamehameha Day lei draping ceremony in the Capitol, and numerous private and public events. Hale Hou performances are unique, where a true appreciation and love of the music and its meaning are conveyed and interpreted using a mix of ancient (the nose flute and Ipu) and more contemporary instruments (Ukulele and Guitar) blended with soothing vocals.
